THE PIXEL LAB: THE CROSS-MEDIA FILM WORKSHOP is open for applications


Power to the Pixel is delighted to announce that applications are now open for The Pixel Lab, its brand new residential course to be held 4 - 10 July 2010 in the 5*St. David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff.

The cross-media lab is open to European media professionals with a strong track record in their sector, and has a particular focus on the creation, finance and distribution of cross-media properties to create sustainable European media businesses.
The Pixel Lab will enable European film producers and other media professionals to tap into the business knowledge-base of the film, online, broadcast, gaming and mobile industries.

Advertising Life - ARE WE AN OPEN SOCIETY? 20 YEARS OF FREEDOM!?


 

The AZYL shortfilm festival of Bratislava again calls for entries to the Advertising Life competition, which like last year will be hosted by BuSho festival for the second time. The goal of this call is to get 1 minute shorts from makers that is related to their slogen „reklama na život" roughly means advertising life. This year’s subject is: 20 years of freedom!? Armed with last years’ experience the major change is that the pieces will be judged in 3 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia) by separate juries then the 10 finalists will compete in the final in Bratislava. The winner’s reward again is €3000.-!

„When East Meets West” conference and the follow-up of a regional industry meeting at Mediawave Festival


 

The industry conference „When East Meets West”, organized by Friuli Venezia Giulia regional film fund has been called into being to support cross-border cooperations and coproductions, as well as contact making by involving different actors of the profession. At the introduction block of film funds, Jenő Hartyándi spoke about the background of Film Fund Győr, Mediawave film festival, the regional archive, and the foundation of the Hungarian regional film funds.

 

At the round table talk of film festivals, Film Fund Győr invited the participants to an European film meeting to be organized during the 20th Mediawave festival in Szombathely, where they will expect representatives of regional film funds and organizations interested in coproductions. According to the first plans, the meeting taking place on 6-7 May 2010 will aim at the discovery of possible realistic, European cooperations beyond contact making and networking. Apart from Hungarian film organizations, we would like to invite professionals interested primarily in regional cooperations from Croatia, Italy, Austria and Slovenia.

THE LATEST NEWS FROM MEDIAWAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY


The preparations of the 20th jubilee edition of MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Festival are going on. The Festival takes place 30 April - 8 May, 2010, Szombathely. In addition, between 13 and 16 May, 2010, there is going to be realized another special program, with the aim of openening intellectual borders, its venues are Őriszentpéter, Hungary, Rudersdorf, Austria, and the Slovene-Austro-Hungarian triple border.
The programs realized at the long weekends will emphasize characteristically the different sides of MEDIAWAVE spirituality, though every weekend will own the traditional art-gathering character, too.

FILM FUND GYŐR AT "WHEN EAST MEETS WEST" in Trieste


Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission - Audiovisual Regional Fund in collaboration with the Trieste Film Festival, organizes the first edition of WHEN EAST MEETS WEST, a two-day cross-border meeting aimed at gathering producers, broadcasters, agencies, markets and funds representatives from Eastern andWestern European regions, to where Film Fund Győr was also invited. At the meeting Mr. Hartyándi  Jenő will represent the Fund.

The event take place on the 26th and 27 of January 2010.

The main idea is to create a bridge between Eastern and Western European film industries during the Trieste Film Festival, with round-tables, case-studies and meetings aimed at linking the different regions and countries involved. Each year Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission - Audiovisual Regional Fund and the festival will invite delegations from different countries, making Trieste a meeting place for Eastern producers keen to coproduce with Western ones, as well as the other way round.
This first year, the focus on the Western side will be exclusively on Spain, thanks to the precious collaboration with the CATALAN FILMS&TV, the agency for the promotion of the Catalan film industry. A Spanish delegation formed by funds and agencies representatives, producers and broadcasters will offer an in-depth view on the financial sources available, the distribution opportunities and the production landscape.

DRAGON FORUM - DOCUMENTARY


 

We are opening a call for proposals!

1. Call for documentary film projects for the 2010 edition of the Dragon Forum!
Starting today you are welcome to submit your projects for the Dragon Forum 2010! The application is available in the attaechment or can be downloaded from www.dragonforum.pl

 

This year the workshops will take place in the begining of March 2010 (script) and middle April(production) in Warsaw and in the first week of June in Krakow during the Krakow Film Festival.

Additionally, for the filmmakers from the former Soviet Union countries we will hold a special workshop in Kiev- 28.03-1.04 during the International Film Festival-Human Rights- Documentary Days.

The classes are held in small groups hosted by Polish and international experts. The lecture language is English.
The ready projects for documentary films will be presented to commissioning editors from the largest European and global television networks who will come for the Dragon Forum session in Krakow in 2010.

MEDIAWAVE GOT EXCELLENT RANK


The Evaluation Program of the Festivals was initiated by five Hungarian professional association in the summer of 2008. 230 festivals were registered and 87 of them were evaluated by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Municipality Affairs in cooperation with the Hungarian Public Civisation Institute and the Lectorate of Fine Arts by the beginning of December 2009.

The aim of the program was to define the profession of festivals, and give the basis for the clear, transparent festival funding system with the help of classification of the Hungarian festivals.

Participation in the program is voluntary and continuous. Festivals can be refused or evaluated excellent, good or evaluated classification in the genres of folklore, gastronomy and special ones.

MEDIAWAVE Festival participates among the 16 artistic festivals which were classified excellent rank together with the "Ördögkatlan Festival" which takes place nearby the Villány Region, is cooperated by MEDIAWAVE. The Festival of Five Churches in Győr got good classification.
