FILM(FUND) TO BUILD ON

Győr - Unique film selection, spectacular-intimate musical performances... Last night the Filmfund Győr and its film archive presented its activity.
There are more than 150 film funds in Europe which enrich the given territory with workplace investments and artistic, educational and financing possibilities. In Hungary, the first Filmfund, with support of the city government, was established in Győr and it was introduced to the audience at a spectacular gala.
'On long term, our city will benefit from the activity of the film fund, which, beside artistic results, can positively effect the economy', said Rudolf Ottófi, vice mayor. 'The city will benefit because it ensures marketable training for the local young people and could make Győr and the region more attractive. The capacities of the city, its excellent scenes for film shootings, its artists and the intellectual of the university guarantee that our plans will be realised'.
György Durst producer, the president of the MEDIAWAVE Foundation told our paper that the Filmfund is a long-term investment and we shouldn't look forward immediate results. 'The first few years need to strengthen the base and start the building. Later on, if there are applicable resources behind the filmfund and the investors see the advantages, then we can attract productions to the region'.
József Bana, the director of the city archive said, ' one and a half decade material of the Television of the City of Győr has been preserved on professional digital techique in our institute. The significance of the material lies not only in its quantity but in preserving the cultural values.'
