Győr - Last summer came up the idea of a short fiction film which will be shot with actors from Győr in the cellar of the City Archive and the yard of the Kazinczy High School this weekend. The completed film can be watched at the opening ceremony of the MEDIAWAVE Festival.
Several films and photos were born in the Passport Control International Workshop which is usually called the "child of the MEDIAWAVE". Attila Antal, theatre and film director from Subotica, participated in the works as a teacher, who, knowing Győr and the possibilities of the Filmfund, will shoot a film in the city of rivers.
"My fiction film is a war story, which can happen at any time and place. It's about prisoners of war who , before their execution, get a task requiring a decision."- said the director to our paper.
One of the invited actors is István Ungvári who acts the unlovable officer.
"Old saying that there is no bad role only weak character. For some days, I have to act the character of the evil."- said the artist of the National Theatre of Győr.
The building of the City Archive used to be the townhall. Julianna Géczy, the famous "white woman of Lőcse" spent the last days of her life in its cellar-prison. József Bana, the director of the Archive, thinks that it is a unique thing that the cells have remained in their original state. They are ideal scenes for such films.
Zsuzsanna Gazsó, the production manager of the film, considers Antal's idea as a pioneer start. Such a promising beginning, which, using the local possibilities (e.g. lighting, technique, props, costumes) and capability (location) and with a very low budget, comes up with a marketable film.
The film is planned to be screened at the opening ceremony of the MEDIAWAVE'2009.
