THE LATEST NEWS FROM MEDIAWAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY
The preparations of the 20th jubilee edition of MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Festival are going on. The Festival takes place 30 April - 8 May, 2010, Szombathely. In addition, between 13 and 16 May, 2010, there is going to be realized another special program, with the aim of openening intellectual borders, its venues are Őriszentpéter, Hungary, Rudersdorf, Austria, and the Slovene-Austro-Hungarian triple border.
The programs realized at the long weekends will emphasize characteristically the different sides of MEDIAWAVE spirituality, though every weekend will own the traditional art-gathering character, too.

MEDIAWAVE International Music Festival
Latin – afrobeat – blues – ethno – authentic folk music

maypole– the international day of the dance – ceremony of awards for parallel cultures – 20th birthday ceremony of MEDIAWAVE – acoustic island – village museum - film festival
The 2nd WEEKEND
4-8 May, 2010, Szombathely
"ANOTHER CONNECTION" International Film Festival
competition of features, documentaries and short films, special film programs, filmindustry events, conferences, international film, photo and VJ workshop
Some details: 1173 films were submitted from 81 countries, out of which:
- 18 short fictions,
- 22 animations,
- 12 experimentals,
- 12 documentaries have been selected into the competition program.
The preselection of the feature films is still going on.
And: international music workshops, concerts: Gil Scott–Heron Band (USA), Franca Masu (Sardinia), Baba Zula (TUR) concert accompanied by music and belly dance workshop, Deti Picasso (ARM/RUS), Kovács Kati & Qualitons…

International Jazz and Eco Fest at the three borders
unique orchestral formations - musical delicacies (Iva Bittová, Hamid Drake, Michael Schiefel, Dresch Mihály, stb.), recording, drum seminar
and then:
international conference on the upbringing of audience, "Tradition and Nature" conference, nature and environment protection debates and lectures.
As a closing party: music picnic at the three borders!
As the result of the evaluation survey made by Hungarian Educational Institution, out of the researched 100 Hungarian festivals, MEDIAWAVE Festival received the rank of an artistic festival with distinguished classification and got into the 16 Hungarian festivals with this classification.
